How to restrict folders access for users

In this guide we’ll show you how to restrict folders access for users. With this feature a user will only be able to access and view folders created by him or her. Admin users will still be able to see all files created by all other users. Please note this is a Pro feature.

So let’s get right into it. To restrict folders access for users, first you need to go to your WordPress dashboard and click on the Folders settings in your admin panel.

Go to the ”User restrictions” menu and click on the “Restrict users to their folders only” button to enable the feature.

Now, users will only be able to access their folders and media and admin users will still be able to view all folders.

Please note that the minimum required user role to create folders is “Editor”.

To restrict users to dynamic folders, you need to turn on the “Restrict access to dynamic folders” button in the  “User restrictions” menu.

With this feature enabled, regular users will not be able to access dynamic folders. Only admin users will be able to view them.

To test out how the new feature works, go to your Media folders (for example) with an “Editor” user and create a folder. The folder will be visible only by this user and the admin user.

That’s it. Easy as 1,2,3! Navigating through your files has never been easier. Check out our knowledgebase to make sure you make the most of your Folders plug-in!
