In this guide, we’ll show you how to set up a SMTP client in your WordPress website in order to send notifications in Folders.

By default, WordPress uses the PHP Mail function to send emails. However, it is better to use SMTP as it handles sending messages much better. You can also use it to send emails from a third-party mailing service like Google, Send Grid, Brevo (formerly Sendinblue).
To begin, install a plugin named WP Mail SMTP. Once the plugin is installed and activated, you will need to navigate to its settings to configure WordPress to work with SMTP.
On this page you will see several configuration options available. Here’s a list of all of them and what they configure:
- From Email – the email address you want to send emails from;
- From Name – the name that your emails will be sent from;
- Mailer – choose whether you want to use the Default PHP mail() function, a Gmail/Google Workspace account, Brevo, SendGrid or other SMTP servers.
Once you configure the required parameters, click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
